Free Tax Assistance Available at the Center
AARP volunteers
come to our Center and prepare taxes for older adults and those
with low income. Appointments ARE NECESSARY and begin on
Tuesday, February 5th and continue every Tuesday and Thursday
until April 15th.
Certified volunteer tax counselors trained
in cooperation with the IRS will answer questions and prepare federal,
state and local income tax returns.
Taxpayers seeking assistance should
bring all 1099 and W-2 forms and a copy of their 2006 tax return.
If you are homebound and can have someone drop off your taxes to the
Erie Center on Health & Aging, 406 Peach Street between the hours of
8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., counselors will work on them at their convenience.
Please note that “same day” service is not guaranteed. Your tax
information must be in a manila envelope and include:
NAME,
DATE OF BIRTH,
PHONE NUMBER WHERE YOU CAN BE REACHED FOR QUESTIONS
SOCIAL SECURITY
NUMBER FOR THE TAX DOCUMENT
IF CLAIMING ANY
DEPENDENTS, INCLUDE THEIR FULL NAME AND SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER AS WELL.
APPOINTMENT ARE NECESSARY.

Tax Counselors only prepare simple tax returns.
