Preventive Health Services Network
Our nurses visit over 30 sites in Erie County each month, providing preventive health services. In fact, Erie is the only county in Pennsylvania to make these services available for older adults on a regular basis through an agency such as ours.
Preventive health service
Preventive health services are provided at senior centers, apartment buildings, and other public sites
and include:
- Free Blood Pressure test with heart disease risk assessment
- Blood Sugar Testing (fee: $5)
with diabetes risk assessment
(At least 2 hour fasting required) - Cholesterol Testing (fee:$10)
- Colorectal Cancer Screening Tests (fee:$5)
- Dietary and Medication Counseling
- Educational Materials
- Consultations and Information and Referral Services
- Consultations with Family Members and Caregivers
- Smoking Cessation Counseling

- Regional Flu and Pneumonia Vaccination Campaign, serving 15,000 persons annually
- Erie County Breast Cancer Education initiatives on behalf of Erie County government and Family Health Council, including Speaker's Bureau and outreach for underinsured women
- Osteoporosis Bone Density Testing- available at the center by appointment with your doctor's order, for the full body scan, generally covered by Medicare
